adapted from 1955 LP liner notes: "Fandango", with its ingenious cross-rhythms between the left and right hand, swings like mad while demonstrating the effects on Erroll of an evening in San Francisco when he heard the classical guitarist Andrés Segovia. adapted from WIKIPEDIA: Erroll Garner began playing piano at age three. His elder siblings were taught piano by a "Miss Bowman". As a toddler, Erroll would sit down and play anything she had demonstrated, "just like Miss Bowman", his eldest sister Martha said. Garner was self-taught and remained an "ear player" all his life, never learning to read music. At the age of seven, he began appearing on radio station KDKA in Pittsburgh with a group named the Candy Kids. By 11, he was playing on Allegheny riverboats. Recorded March 14, 1955 and released on Mercolite Mercury LP #20090, "Afternoon of an Elf" ERROLL GARNER" Reissued 1994 on POLYGRAM Records CD #314 518 197-2, "ERROLL GARNER Jazz Masters 7"
