Running a Real Ale PUB for 2 Weeks! Big 6 Inn Halifax

#pubs #realale #bigsixinn In August 2021 my school friend of 40 years and I bought the Big Six Inn in Halifax. With plenty of nerves given that the pub had been shut since the previous December thanks to the 'C' word, we were thrilled that customers returned to this iconic pub, relieved that the new owners (the third since 1969) had not changed anything (apart from the addition of a card payment machine!) We first went to the Big Six in 1988 as sixth-form students and, like many of our customers, we have a real bond with the place - it is so unique. Plus, the beer has always been fantastic, though the Tetley Bitter it once served (it was a Tetley pub before the big changes in the 1990s) has long gone. As I have other work commitments, a manager is in place for day-to-day operations, but she was taking a well-deserved two-week holiday and I stepped in to run the pub full time whilst she was away.
