Big Setback For Uddhav Thackeray As Supreme Court Refuses To Stay EC Order On Shiv Sena Symbol War

In a big setback for Uddhav Thackeray, the Supreme Court today refused to stay the Election Commission's order to give the Shiv Sena name and symbol to the Eknath Shinde faction. "They (Shinde camp) have already succeeded before the EC. We can’t now stay the order," Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said. On Friday, the Election Commission of India said the party name Shiv Sena and the party symbol of bow and arrow will be retained by the Eknath Shinde faction. The ECI said the Eknath Shinde faction was supported by MLAs with 76 per cent of the party's winning votes in the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly polls.
