RazoRock (https://www.italianbarber.com) continues their assault on artisan razor makers with their latest release of the Lupo DE safety razor. The razor was designed to provide a similar shaving experience to that of the Wolfman WR1 safety razor. Leveraging their manufacturing agreements and capital, they were able to bring a safety razor, with some improvements over the artisan’s razor, to market for less than USD $30. RazoRock products can be purchased direct from their website. The Lupo is CNC milled from corrosion-resistant 6066 aluminum and anodized for additional corrosion resistance. The milling process ensures extremely tight tolerances, which ensures the razor blade centers true and that there is no room for blade misalignment. When torqued closed, the top cap and base plate ensure no blade chatter can occur. The Lupo design covers the blade tabs, one of the improvements that RazoRock touts over the Wolfman WR1. The entire assembly weighs in at 28 grams and has a length of 93mm. The razor is available in anodized black, gold and silver. In terms of the shave, the RazoRock Lupo is a mild-to-mid aggressive shaver with a mid level of efficiency. This is an ideal option as a daily driving razor whether you shave your face or head, or anywhere else for that matter. The angle of attack is easy to find and maintain and while light, the razor is well balanced. It has a fairly wide sweet spot and will not cut if you veer away from the sweet spot. It feels comfortable and safe to use. Buffing is a must with this razor, in my experience. Because is not as efficient as my prefered razors, there was a need to buff the trouble spots to a smooth feeling. I was still left with no irritation as a result though. I am very impressed with the RazoRock Lupo as a daily shaver. It is light for my taste in razors, as I often rely on a razor’s heft to keep my angles when blindly shaving the back of my head. But for anyone who is looking for a daily driver for their shaving needs, this razor will provide that experience and not break the bank.
