How to clean the adhesive left behind from wheel weights. I will be showing you three easy ways on how to remove that glue without damaging the finish of your wheels. This stuff can be a little time consuming to remove and for those who like to keep their wheels clean, it can be an annoyance to look at too. I’m also getting ready to wax my wheels as well, so this is definitely a must to remove. #autodetailing #wheels #detailing Amazon links for various products used in the video for both USA and Canada: USA: Isopropyl alcohol: https://amzn.to/2O82mQe Wax and grease remover: https://amzn.to/2M6xvCV Polishing Compound: https://amzn.to/3omIghF Wax and applicator kit: https://amzn.to/36xqYs7 WD40: https://amzn.to/2ZBPofW Canada: Isopropyl alcohol: https://amzn.to/36LY5bz Wax and grease remover: https://amzn.to/39nLn4F Polishing compound: https://amzn.to/36g3PKq Wax and applicator kit: https://amzn.to/3sZXoF6 WD40: https://amzn.to/2NPHSf2 Website: http://4diyers.com Patreon: / 4diyers Facebook: / 4diyers Google Plus: https://plus.google.com/+4DIYers Twitter: / 4diyers Instagram: / 4diyers Tumblr: / 4diyers Pintrest: / 4diyers Tools/Supplies Needed: -paper towel -clean rags -gloves -wax and grease remover -WD40 Procedure: Method Number 1 Simply using your finger and rolling away the glue. This can be a little tough, sometimes the use of a heat gun to soften up the adhesive can help as well. Simply apply pressure, I find it’s easiest to push and roll away the adhesive. Typically all the glue reside will remove and you don’t need to worry about damaging the finish of your wheels with any chemicals. Method Number 2 Using WD40 or another form of light weight penetrating oil. Sometimes you can also use a cooking oil too. Apply it to a cloth or paper towel, allow it to soak into the adhesive for a moment and then rub the surface. I find it tends to start off a little slow, once that oil has soaked into it for a longer period of time, it then easily wipes away. Unfortunately when using this method, you’ll have to follow up with washing the wheel again if you don’t want any residue from the oil left behind. Method Number 3 Using a wax and grease remover. Against using a soft cloth or paper towel, apply the solvent to it, allow it to soak into the surface for a moment and then rub away. Just like using the penetrating oil, this will take a little longer, but once the glue starts to dissolve, the rest will remove somewhat easier. Apply more solvent as needed. A wax and grease remover tends to be a little more friendly to paint than compared to some of the harsher solvents. It shouldn’t soften or bleach the paint and will evaporate fast.
