Anastasia was one of two guinea pigs I adopted on July 3rd, 2018. It was believed by the pet store owner that she and her sister Puddles were born around 3-5 months before we took them in. At the time I was on the precipice of beginning my freshman year of high school. All of my four years of high school then came and went, and Anastasia was with me through all of them. Furthermore, she persisted throughout my first two years of college, and around a month into my third one. Sadly, on October 10th of this year, I received the news from my mom that Anastasia had passed away, four days after I had last visited their house and seen her. We had known that she was slowing down for a while, but I had no idea it was going to happen right then and there. I knew guinea pigs had relatively short lifespans, and that eventually I would have to say goodbye to these rodents that I owned, but you never expect a loss like this to happen when it does. The grieving process has been sustained for me. I did not tear up when I initially received the news, but I have several times since then, including when editing this video. So this my tribute to a beloved pet, the longest-lived one I’ve had pass to date. Anastasia, I know you won’t see this, and even if you could, you’d have no idea what it was, but I nonetheless wanted to send the message to you that I love you. Throughout the coming decades I will statistically live through, I will never forget you. I’m not a religious person at all, but if there’s an afterlife, I’m sure you’re enjoying your time there.
