Once upon a time the norm was for consoles to be backwards compatible in some sort of way, either via virtual console, being capable of playing the old games due to the systems being similar and or having the same form factor physical media or at least some sort of effort like Microsoft’s approach to backwards compatibility in recent times (Which due to recent events I don’t know if its appropriate to think Microsoft cares about game preservation) Sony approach is to remaster games and sell them at full price rather than offer a way to play our old physical media which is disappointing to say the least, yes the ps5 does offer full ps4 backwards compatibility, remasters of ps2/psp/ps3 era games and the classic collection on PS Plus (which is very sad to say.
