How to thread a commercial embroidery machine (upper thread not the bobbin): This video shows how to thread the upper tension system and sensor on the Butterfly embroidery machine. Other embroidery machines will have a slightly different configuration but the rules are generally the same, make sure the thread runs in such a way that it goes through all major parts without falling out. See our other training videos for more, and please contact us at http://www.tewh.com or http://www.butterflyemb.com ! If you are having thread break problems then don't forget to pay attention to these basic details!! Threading appears the easiest thing and so silly mistakes can happen such as: Winding thread all the way around any metal post. This is very bad! Lift up your spring disks and check if thread is in a straight line through the center, not all the way wrapped around! Thread getting stuck in the check springs. Notice the check springs looks like a little coil. We've seen some guys thread right into the cracks in between the coils. Don't do this, thread goes through down the center of the check spring, not jammed inside it! Check springs not being placed in their proper position. When you put the check springs too low, they will whip the thread right out of the needle at every color change! Do not place the check springs too low. They should be nearly 10% from the highest spot to start with, and pulled down slightly more if your pattern is dominated by really long stitches. Watch for thread being placed OVER or to the SIDE of any disk. The thread should go through the disk at an angle past the post, so it is impossible for it to slide out. If your thread ends up sitting to the side while machine is in use, then it was placed in the disk wrong. Watch for thread being placed UNDER the disks, onto the padding that is under the disks. This is not correct, there are two metal disks and the thread should run in between the metal plates only. Your tension knobs should apply a balanced pressure to the thread each. This may or may not correspond to the height of the knob. Continuously pull thread and lift the metal disks so they let go of the thread, and do this for the top and bottom knobs. You will be able to see which one is holding too tight and imbalanced, then you can loosen the tight one and tighten the loose one. Go for balance, and try to get the bobbin thread feeling the same! (Another video). Don't let thread pass over any section, or ever run outside of an eyelet instead of inside! Make sure they go UNDER any metal clamps. Pull yards of thread, slow and steady, if you suspect a problem or if the machine has been sitting or if it has been windy. If you pull slow and continuously you can feel the average pressure per second, and if it spikes or pinches every now and then, there's a threading problem and the machine won't like that!! Total inspect the thread path, and even how the thread comes from the cone itself. And perhaps totally remove and replace thread if you can't find anything... and test again. Inspect with your eyes while you are doing any thread pull test! And remove the thread from the needle when you do this test, unless you know what you are doing (able to pull it without bending the needle). Good luck. =) Upper tension spring: 0:46 Main tension spring: 2:13 Wheel sensor: 3:01 Check springs: 4:24 Take-up lever: 5:27 Enhebrado superior.
