I was unsatisfied with my previous Real Love mix using deconstructed isolated stems, so I took it upon myself to work at making a brand new mix for the new year. As of 6th March 2026, it'll be a few days after Real Love's 30th anniversary, it being released back on 4th March 1996 by the Beatles; marking their final song up until that point. It was a remarkable song, using John Lennon's demo and turning it into a beautiful and much needed send-off to the band that changed the world. In 2025, following the overly negative reviews of the anniversary mix for 'Anthology 4', many fans have created their own mixes - this one being my own. But unlike my previous attempt, this time I've taken the 2015 mix (one which I most prefer in terms of instrumentation balance and clarity) and replaced the lower quality John vocals with a new, cleaned up vocals from @MusicbyKR's restored John demo: • John Lennon - Real Love *** Take 1 Restor... , which I then reworked it to massage the vocals into the song). I did this a few times until I was satisfied with it. Other notable differences being: -Adding a bit of the low-quality John piano intro to the start of song (like the '96 mix), but still having the pronounced Harpsichord of the 2015 mix. -John's vocals are from the correct 'double-tracked, click-track' demo used when the song was recorded in 1995 and the 2015 mix. I added reverb, tweaked the volume and fade out in areas, fixed some singing/doubling errors, etc. -Paul and George's background vocals are a little louder, to harmonise better with John's cleaner vocals, and to have that 'Beatles Harmony' once again. -Ringo's opening drum fill is shortened (because while I do like it, it's a bit much in the '15 and especially the '25 mix, however is not present in the '96 mix). so, I landed on an 'in-between' of keeping the second fill in. -All of George's guitar fills in the pre-chorus' are in. This was crucial to me. But unlike having only the second and third pre-chorus licks like the '96 or having only guitar licks like the '15, I added the high-strung guitars in the background for the first and third pre-chorus', I think they turned out well. -The ending is pretty much the 2015 mix, but I added George's Banjolele at the end because I think it's cute. I also added an extra "It's Real..." after the song ends, which is an idea I really like and is a final goodbye from John. Big thanks to @isolatedstems and @munox4402 for their isolated stems which I used in this fan mix.
