My grandma had dementia. What we're seeing looks familiar. I'm not a doctor, but at the risk of sounding like an armchair psychiatrist I had to say something. But he's carrying on conversations! Frontotemporal dementia doesn't inhibit conversation in thee same way as Alzheimer's Disease. Read the 2017 "Yellow Brick Road" study for yourself: https://clinicalmovementdisorders.bio... Find the diagnostic criteria: https://theaftd.org Again, I'm not a doctor and you probably aren't either, but how many boxes are checked in your eyes? We're citizens. We're responsible for this. In a democracy, we need all the information to make informed decisions about our leaders. ~ ~ ~ My grandma was a fully functional person most of the time. She could dress herself, carry on conversations, eat food, make friends, answer complex questions and take care of herself. In fact, for short bursts she could do most anything anyone else could do, but later she forgot. She forgot that we'd talked on the phone or what we were all doing here. Dementia patients become masters of not rocking the boat in conversation. They become really good at small talk. But when left alone at her house, she forgot there had been an ice storm the night before. She fell in the driveway, broke her wrist and never left a professional care facility again. It all comes out, eventually. FOLLOW ME 📷:: / tracedominguez 🧵:: https://threads.net/tracedominguez 🦋:: https://bsky.app/profile/tracedomingu...
