2026 Mazda CX-5 First Drive: The Redesign Was Worth the Wait

Come with me to meet the all-new 2026 Mazda CX-5! I headed to California to get an up-close look at Mazda's completely redesigned CX-5, one of the best-selling compact SUVs on the market. This third-generation model brings a bolder design, more interior space, and a massive new touchscreen, but not everyone is going to love every change. The 2026 CX-5 has grown by about 4.5 inches in length and now rides on a 110.7-inch wheelbase, giving rear passengers significantly more legroom. Under the hood is a 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G four-cylinder making 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque with standard i-Activ all-wheel drive. Inside, Mazda went big with an available 15.6-inch touchscreen with Google built-in, but they also removed most of the physical buttons and knobs, which is sure to be a controversial move for CX-5 fans.
