ok now so im going to give you an introduction on how we get sound into the arri amira and more importantly how we sync this metering to this metering back here. ok so what we need to do to enable our meters is use our tone functionality and we will remember the sound of the tone if you have watched any of the other videos in this series it sounds a little like this. Now looking at the amira right now we are actually overdoing it at the moment. It's sounding a lot louder than it is on our sound devices metering so slightly off. So we are sending in a higher signal into the amira than into our ISO tracks. Ok so first we are going to make sure we are setting up our outputs correctly. I've found through experimentation that we don't want to output at line level, we want to do it at consumer line level. minus 10 which is also what im doing to get into Canon 7D that i'm shooting on. We are going out of the XLR right output straight into the Amira and we are going into the Amira at line level. But we need to be at consumer line level for the output side of things from the sound devices. So thats all we need to setup on here. We already have the tone level at -20 dBFS and we have 1kHz tone, perfect for syncing up and referencing in a studio environment. So lets jump over the Arri Amira and see where we are at the moment. ok so i managed to get the tone setup. right now you are seeing the "Info" screen. There is a button just below which starts with INFO and then goes to 1/2 and 3/4 and setup options. But this is the initial info screen. So i'll flick to 1/2 and we go to this screen. You can see on the B Line level that i've had to add +7dB of gain. we can use the left rotary switch to turn this gain up and down. You can now see if I do tone when there is 0dB gain added. we come up short about 8dB. We can also press in L and change our manual to Auto but this is more for onboard camera microphone on top of the Amira. Then we can go down to roll off and thats like just on your sound devices, where you can roll off at 80 Hz. Then we have monitoring and we can monitor with left, with the right but thats just personal preference. We can scroll down to B Line and we can change the source. We have plugged into B at Line Level and so thats why it's come up as that. So all that's left to do is press tone and calibrate until it hits the -20dB mark. [Tone] Ok and now my meter reflects exactly what is on the Arri Amira. It should be noted that the metering be slightly different because it's just peak and no also VU metering. So it won't give you as much information as the sound devices 688. So now our metering is calibrated we can go to the next video for more general settings Thanks for watching :) Subscribe Here: https://goo.gl/npT3YU
