“‘哲学思辨’是我们必须从熟悉的事物与位置中退后一步,尝试以更广泛的视角思考。” 从大学到博士都念人类学的萧婉思,是位生物考古学家。年少时受老师启蒙,体验到哲学思辨的震撼,了解到追求知识和学问是多么有趣的事。 博士毕业后,她展开了教学与研究工作,但仍无法解答心中的疑惑:“我是谁?” “我从哪里来?”于是,她去了尼泊尔工作,目睹了女性的困境与贫穷,领悟到人类是社会的创造物。 因此,她发愿通过哲学思辨让社会更好,回国后创办了“翻转哲学教室”。她认为,哲学思辨教育的目的在于使学生整合所学知识,培育社会关怀,锻炼思考能力,最终让他们成为能够独立批判思考并采取行动的公民。 "Philosophical reflection requires us to take one step back from familiar things and positions, attempting to think about matters from a broader perspective." Siew Yun Ysi, who studied anthropology from her Bachelor's degree to PhD, is a bioarchaeologist. She first encountered the shock of philosophical reflection through the guidance of her teacher and discovered how fascinating the pursuit of knowledge can be. After earning her doctorate, she began teaching and conducting research, yet she still couldn't answer the deeper questions within herself: "Who am I?" "Where do I come from?" This prompted her to volunteer in Nepal, where she witnessed the struggles and poverty women face, leading her to realize that humans are, in many ways, creations of society. As a result, she committed herself to improving society through philosophical reflection. Upon returning to Malaysia, she initiated the "Reverse Philosophy Classroom." She came up with the concept of the “flipped philosophy classroom” after reading Sophie’s World as a high school student. Her philosophy classes are captivating and devoted to guiding students to think independently - a kind of “reverse thinking” - which subverts the traditional classroom expectation of students listening to teachers talking. Her body of philosophical concepts goes beyond traditional adult-oriented theories in the discipline to incorporate the novel and less well-known philosophy for children. Dr Siew has proposed a theoretical system in which philosophy can be aimed at both children and adults, embodying the professionalism and humanism sought out in modern philosophy.
