Siomai is a popular dim sum dish consisting of ground pork, shrimp, carrots, eggs, green onions and other vegetables. Pork can be substituted with other meats like chicken and beef. Try my pork and shitake mushroom combination. So simple and yet delicious outcome. Siomai is traditionally served with soy sauce and calamansi, topped with chili garlic sauce. I am sharing three basic ways to wrap a siomai to help you do the easy way. Ingredients: 500 grams ground pork 1 medium carrots {grated or minced} 1/4 cup shitake mushroom about 5-6 pieces{soaked and chopped} 1 medium onion{chopped} 3 cloves garlic[chopped} 1 medium egg 2 tablespoon onion leeks 2 tablespoon oyster sauce 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon sesame oil 1 tablespoon cornstarch or flour fresh wonton wrapper/siomai wrapper 1/2 teaspoon green peas for toppings When wrapping siomai it is best to use fresh wonton/siomai wrapper , you do not need to wet the edges with water, when wrapper is dry wet edges with water before sealing it. Steam the siomai atleast 25 minutes to 30 minutes, do not over cook or the siomai turns dry.
