22/23 BMW Race Driver Series Open | Manfeild Circuit Chris Amon | Round 2 | Race 3

Round 2, Race 3 of the 2022/23 BMW Race Driver Series held at Manfeild Circuit Chris Amon. No telemetry unfortunately. An unfortunate end to a frustrating weekend of racing. I decided to just run this final race without power steering. The reservoir was empty but hoped there would be enough residual fluid in the pump to keep it lubricated for the race. It was actually a really fun first half with some great close racing. But it was tough going controlling the car, my arms were definitely getting sore and oddly the car felt a little down on power. It turns out the engine was having to drive a seizing pump and was working very hard. It seems eventually the pump seized completely, snapped the shaft and threw the belt which also runs the alternator and the water pump. On the penultimate lap the temp gauge spiked, the light came and the coolant light too from blowing out the expansion tank. I just coasted for the final lap to cool the car down.
