Ramps or Boards to drive front wheels up on (At least 3 inches high) 7. Funnel 8. Rags Here I demonstrate how to change the oil in a 2013 Subaru Legacy. The Subaru Outback is the same under the hood and will follow the same procedure but you may not need the ramps. The oil capacity is 5qts for the 2013 2.5 liter 2.5x motor which is the 4 cylinder. The 6 cylinder, again will be very similar. Check your manual to verify the oil capacity or fill very slowly and check the dipstick often until you know. Some subaru's have a lesser capacity. This motor has been known for oil consumption problems so make sure that you check it every few thousand miles and top up if necessary. The oil change interval for the legacy and outback is 7500 miles, assuming you are running full synthetic oil.
