Elvis had included the song among a batch of new songs, which were either recent contemporary hits, which would be in keeping with the sort of show that Vegas show catchers would expect, and newly recorded songs from his June Nashville session. The latter was likely included with his own fans in the audience in mind, and with a view to recent album releases in the next few months or so. The song itself is a typical sixties country song telling of a breakdown of a relationship and the hurt it is causing. The studio master was recorded on 8 June 1970 at RCA’s Studio B in Nashville and was the first of five songs recorded during that final day of the “Nashville Marathon”. It was completed in just three takes before Elvis and the band the moved on to “If I Were You”. If so, it would of course have been at the mercy of the film's director and editor and inevitably both performances ended up on the cutting room floor!!
