While waiting at the airport, news broke out — a major earthquake had just struck Myanmar. Soon after, Thailand declared a state of emergency. Our flight got delayed from evening till late at night. We were honestly worried — not knowing what the situation in Bangkok would be like. But thankfully, we finally landed safely at Bangkok airport… and everything was calm. No transport issues, no chaos — just relief. We kicked off our first day in Bangkok with a visit to the famous Chatuchak Market — a paradise for street shopping. After some retail therapy, we treated ourselves to a delicious Thai lunch at a nearby restaurant, and later relaxed at a cozy café to escape the heat. In the afternoon, curiosity brought us to one of the earthquake-affected sites. We just wanted a quick look — but many roads were blocked and the area was heavily controlled. At night, we visited One Ratchada Night Market. To be honest, it felt a little underwhelming — post-MCO, it was quiet, many stalls were closed, and barely any crowd. We started our morning at Breakfast Story — a cute spot with hearty brunch options. Great food, great vibes. Then came one of the highlights of the trip — a 2-hour private boat ride with Hidden Bangkok. It was such a refreshing experience, gliding through the canals, far from the usual touristy spots. We made a stop at a quaint artist village — peaceful, colorful, and full of character. The whole ride was slow, scenic, and super relaxing. Definitely a gem.
