It is helpful to mentally prepare your child for what to expect. Treat doctors visits like an adventure instead of something scary to fear. I found a video on youtube that talked about like what to expect at the allergist. It was really helpful to prepare him for what he was going to be seeing what he might be feeling what he might be experiencing. We used visual timer while we were there. -hid ball -obstacle course -peekaboo achoo games -tea party -Guessing game in our hands-describe it Remember to pack snacks and something for YOU to eat, also! He was supposed to lay on his stomach for 20 minutes because they like have a liquid on their back that they prick into and you can't sit up otherwise the liquid will run down and the test won't be valid. That was the hardest part for him and it is itchy so you have to keep them from itching. THIS is when I pulled out my phone to watch a video. I reserved the video for the part I knew would be the hardest for him. Watched memory videos of pictures and videos of our family and pets on our phone. Nurse said that he did the best out of any 3 year old she’s ever worked with…and she’s been working there 28 years! Shout out to my mama who was there the whole time with us to help out and my dad who watched our 1.5 year old at home. Couldn’t have done it without you both! We made some great memories at the allergist and it was a pleasant experience because he was prepared and knew what to expect. I asked him what his favorite part was and he liked watching the memory videos and when she wrote on his back with the marker. The next morning, he was pretending to be the allergist and nurse and was giving our 1.5 year old an allergy test on his back with some toys. Hey!
