Invasive Sino-orbital Aspergillosis in an Immunocompetent Host Selecting a Surgical Approach: Examining Shifting Trends Layman Abstract : Invasive sino-orbital fungal Eye Infections are extremely rare in healthy individuals with normal immune systems, making them difficult to diagnose and treat. Fungal infections in the eye socket (orbit) are often overlooked because they resemble many other Orbital diseases. Invasive aspergillosis, a fungal Eye infection, is particularly uncommon in otherwise healthy people. This article highlights the case of a 48-year-old woman who developed a painless swelling on her left cheek for six months, followed by nasal blockage for five months and eye protrusion (proptosis) for two months. Although minimally invasive endoscopic surgery is the preferred method for treating such infections, this case emphasizes that open surgery may still be necessary to fully remove the fungal infection. The best approach is a combination of both surgical methods, followed by systemic antifungal medication to prevent further spread of the disease. ---------- View Book: https://doi.org/10.9734/bpi/msti/v10/... #Invasiveaspergillosis #granuloma #immunocompetenthost #SinoOrbitalFungalInfection #InvasiveAspergillosis #OrbitalFungalDisease #FungalInfections #AspergillosisAwareness #ImmunocompetentHost #OrbitalSurgery #EndoscopicSurgery #ENTsurgery #Ophthalmology #FungalDebridement #MedicalCaseStudy #RareDiseases #FungalPathology #AspergillusInfection #InfectiousDiseases #SinusInfections #AntifungalTreatment #SurgicalApproach #MedicalResearch #NasalBlockage #EyeHealth #ENTResearch #FungalAwareness #OphthalmicSurgery #MedicalEducation #HealthcareInnovation #FungalDiseaseManagement #SurgicalDebridement #SinusSurgery #OrbitalProptosis #orbital #eyeinfections Related keyword: Sino-orbital fungal infection Invasive fungal infections Orbital aspergillosis Aspergillosis in immunocompetent patients Fungal sinus infections Sino-orbital aspergillosis case study Orbital fungal disease diagnosis Fungal infections in healthy individuals Rare fungal infections of the eye Orbital proptosis fungal infection Endoscopic surgery for sino-orbital aspergillosis Open surgical approach for fungal infections Surgical debridement for fungal sinusitis Systemic antifungal treatment for aspergillosis Management of orbital fungal infections Fungal infections in immunocompetent hosts Aspergillosis treatment options Sinus infection spreading to the eye Orbital infections and proptosis Antifungal medications for aspergillosis
