On the afternoon of March 7th, a UP manifest cruised through Hutchinson, KS with a BNSF Dash 9 trailing. When examining this train, I thought it might be a very late UP MHNPX. However, I realized soon after the train had passed that it had stopped to set out cars at Morton Yard in South Hutchinson. I quickly made my way over there and indeed found the train setting out all of its manifest cars in the yard. We see the power pulling out of the yard and reversing back onto their train, now consisting of only auto racks. I suspect this train was a unit auto rack that picked up some manifest cars, most likely at Herington, KS. UP LMS55 normally brings freight from Herington to South Hutchinson, but they do not run on weekends. Westbound trains moving cars to Morton Yard on weekends isn't an uncommon occurrence, as UP IKCLB can sometimes be seen moving cars from Herington. After the unit auto rack departs, we see a quick shot of UP MTUG4 heading east into town after waiting for the auto rack to finish switching. A C44ACM in an an AC6000 car body and an Old Scheme AC44 were on the head of this train. Not much fancy editing on this one, I pretty much threw this one together real quick. I apologize for any out of focus shots in this video, I was trying out some things on my DSLR. Thanks for Watching! Copyright ©WestboundWarbonnet. All rights reserved.
