The reminiscences of former UK Prime Minister (1976 - 1979) Jim Callaghan as he looked back at his life and career in 1992. The programme was entitled "Labour's Last Premier" as at the time it was thought that that is what he might have been, however, since then, two more Labour Prime Ministers have come and gone. The programme is written and presented by BBC journalist Michael Cockerell. In the anecdotes recounted by Callaghan, a wisdom and decency shines through. He did not get everything right and is often candid about the mistakes he made. I would gladly have him back to lead the nation in preference to any of the choices presently on offer to us. Jim Callaghan was not Labour's last Prime Minister but he was the last Prime Minister of the post war consensus before it transited into the often unpleasant and destructive Blatcherism, a development that many of our citizens, including myself, very much regret. Apologies for the sound and picture quality being not as good as it might be but, although there is some interference on the sound, every word can be heard and I think that this is well worth uploading as it gives an interesting incite into the times that someone of my age has lived through.
