Thousands of people protested for statehood and constitutional guarantees under the Union Territory's sixth schedule, causing a massive shutdown across Ladakh. Men and women marched through the main city of Leh during the rallies, which were jointly organized by the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) and the Leh Apex Body (LAB). Despite the bitter cold, the events took place outside. Since Ladakh was turned into a Union Territory, the LAB and KDA, which stand for the two regions of Ladakh, have been promoting statehood and Sixth Schedule status.
