The video above is body cam footage as well as the original 911 call from a shooting involving an Akron police officer on Monday, February 17. The Akron Police Department provided an update Saturday afternoon about a shooting incident involving Akron police that left a Cincinnati man dead. According to officials, the shooting happened on Monday morning in Summit County when officers received a call regarding an alleged stolen gun and vehicle. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) is investigating the incident. Akron police Sgt. Utomhin Okoh told 3News that when officers located the vehicle, a white Toyota Camry, there was an exchange of gunfire at around 8:45 a.m. near Lakeshore Boulevard and Kenmore Boulevard. The driver of the reported stolen vehicle allegedly fired several rounds at officers, who then returned fire, striking him once. No officers were injured.
