I is 100 years since JA Sampson's first paper on "endometriosis" . He described 23 women with the condition - 7/23 had severe constipation, others had babies, some had prior surgical procedures,  etc   In this video we contrast the original view of ectopic endometrium delivered by retrograde menstruation WITH the new view of ectopic endometrium delivered by retrograde menstruation caused by injured uterotubal nerves.  This new view provides a coherent understanding of the condition and a much better pattern of management for these women. These nerve injuries should be prevented through better bowel habits, better intrapartum policies and better gynecological surgical techniques.  That might take longer than it should !!
