Genesis 48 Explained | Jacob Blesses Ephraim and Manasseh Genesis 48 is a chapter of legacy, faith, and God’s surprising choice. As Jacob neared the end of his life, he adopted Joseph’s sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, giving them a full share in Israel’s inheritance. In this act, Joseph received a double portion, becoming two tribes in Israel instead of one. When Joseph brought his sons forward, he positioned Manasseh, the older, at Jacob’s right hand and Ephraim, the younger, at his left. But Jacob crossed his hands, placing his right hand on Ephraim. Joseph tried to correct him, but Jacob declared that though Manasseh would become great, Ephraim would be greater, and his descendants would become a multitude of nations. This blessing reversed human expectation and showed that God’s purposes are guided by His wisdom, not tradition. The younger would surpass the elder, just as God had done with Isaac over Ishmael, Jacob over Esau, and ultimately Christ Himself, rejected by men but exalted by God. Genesis 48 reminds us that God’s blessing is not about human order but divine grace. It teaches us to trust God’s surprising choices, for His ways are higher than our ways. 👉 Subscribe to explore every chapter of the Bible: / @biblechapterbychapter --- Genesis 48 Highlights: Jacob recalls God’s promises to Abraham and Isaac Joseph’s sons Ephraim and Manasseh adopted as Jacob’s own Jacob crosses his hands, blessing the younger over the older Ephraim exalted over Manasseh Joseph receives a double portion in Israel --- *Next comes Genesis 49 — Jacob gathers his sons and blesses them, revealing destinies that shape the future of Israel, including the prophecy of the Lion of Judah.* --- #Genesis48 #BibleExplained #BibleChapterByChapter #Jacob #Joseph #Ephraim #Manasseh #BibleStudy
