This last of four parts on this topic covers the fighting in North America from 1754-1760, at which point little more of significance happened there. The cost of the conflict to Great Britain, her colonies, and the resistance of the colonists simply to accept the dictates from London strained relationships severely. In an attempt to reign in her reluctant child and have her pay for a good portion of the cost of the war, London relied more and more on actions taken in Parliament, attempting to override the colonial legislatures. Seeing themselves as more American than British, the colonists resisted. In many ways the French and Indian War helped define the colonists' sense of identity and their aspirations for their future. This lecture outlines the events which in time will lead to the American Revolution.
