Lords of Thunder Clear (PC Engine, Super Hard)

Time to clear: 29 hours on PC Engine, 3 hours on Sega CD. Played with 'SOCD: Last Wins'. Woah, what a run! And what a fun game this still is! One, single death, to an entirely deterministic boss. How embarrassing!! Otherwise, this was an inexplicably good run from the very start, with the no-death completion of Stage 3 and its boss — those balls usually get me, and I would have gladly used the continue. What is there to say... Stages 6 , 4, and 7 are the hardest bits, but it seems that my routing was fairly on point — I managed to keep my power-ups for longer than usual, and that really made things more manageable. You really want to come into Stage 6 with a power-up, and to keep it for as long as you can before reaching the rooftop. It did not happen this run, but there is some kind of bug that lets one spawn the last health item of the run twice, perhaps by killing the enemies quickly enough. The final boss is a funny joke. Ha-ha! Well, still a lot tougher than the Sega CD version... I am glad and relieved to have this run out of the way! Hooray for magical swords, flying knights, tiny hitboxes, and countless bullets! Hooray for HEAVY METAL!
