Website - http://boxtape.rocks/ A quick dose of technique/inspiration for anyone with a wah. You can build tension and excitement by slowly sweeping up while repeating a riff. This vid took a little while to get right but came up with a couple of quick riffs then a \m/ METAL \m/ demo :). This one seems to work best with the fullest tone possible, and either plenty of gain or compression - to keep the spectrum nice and full. Best combined with delay and/or reverb for extra neck-hair-raising tingles. It's possible to get a real 'resonant cutoff' filter in a couple of ways too, of course. Recording the whole thing then using a filter/EQ plugin is easiest.. Or if you have a configurable digital pedal (such as the GT-6 'back in the day'.. The newer GTs probably do it too!), you can set up an EQ/filter and hook the expression pedal up to the frequency. But that's all a bit of hassle and this gets the job done! Hope this snippet inspires someone to fiddle around with their guitar/some riffage. Have fun! Gear in this video - PRS Custom 22, Laney Ironheart (for preamp), Peavey Delta Blues (for power amp), trusty SM58, Ocu the cat. ------ We put out a bigger music video every Friday too - originals, covers, studio stuff, vlogs... subscribe to stay tuned!
