Study of the Book of 1 Peter | Part 1 | A Lively Hope in a Time of Suffering Text: 1 Peter 1:1–7 (KJV) In this sermon, we begin a new verse-by-verse study through the Book of 1 Peter after finishing our study in Job. Written by the Apostle Peter during a time of intense persecution under Nero, this epistle is a powerful reminder that Christian hope and suffering are always connected. Peter writes as a man who knew failure, restoration, persecution, and unwavering faith. Having denied Christ and later been fully restored, Peter now pens a letter filled with encouragement, instruction, and admonition to believers scattered throughout Asia Minor. His message is clear: be holy on purpose, rejoice in suffering, and live with a lively hope grounded in Jesus Christ. In this sermon, we examine: The historical background and purpose of 1 Peter The theme of victory through suffering God’s call to holiness in every area of life The Trinity clearly revealed in Scripture The importance of the blood of Jesus Christ for salvation Biblical truth concerning election, grace, and assurance A “lively hope” that sustains believers through trials Why Christians must be thermostats, not thermometers How trials refine our faith and build godly character This message also includes personal application, challenging believers to: Live the Christian life intentionally Examine themselves before correcting others Refuse to let past failures define their future Rejoice even in seasons of heaviness Set the spiritual atmosphere through praise Model faithful Christianity for their children Trust God’s purpose in the fire No matter what season you are in, if you are saved, you still have something to greatly rejoice in. This sermon calls believers to stand firm, live holy, and remain faithful—looking forward to the appearing of Jesus Christ. 📖 Scripture Used: KJV 🙏 Theme: Hope, Holiness, and Faithfulness in Suffering 🔔 Subscribe for more verse-by-verse preaching and biblical teaching 👍 Like & Share to help spread God’s Word
