The Spokane Hot Spotters Group evolved from years of important work by emergency room physicians and case managers, The City of Spokane Fire Department and Police Department and other providers of health services. The work of the group is modeled after the Camden, New Jersey Coalition of Healthcare Providers, which originally coined the name, “Hot Spotters”. The Hot Spotters group focuses on high risk patients with a history of high utilization of health care services and develops a community care plan that will provide the best care available while working to reduce community costs. The group includes the fire and police departments, behavioral health, substance abuse and housing services providers and Consistent Care Washington staff. This group is embarking on a very important focus on community-wide collaboration to solve some of the most challenging medical and behavioral health cases in the community.
