Driving in Romania: DN7C Transfăgărășan - Europe's Most Beautiful Mountain Pass Road?

In this video you can ride along on DN7C - the Transfăgărășan pass road in central Romania. This is the first part of a two-part series on the Transfăgărășan pass, the second part will be uploaded soon after. The Transfăgărășan is a beautiful mountain pass through the Carpathian mountain range in Romania. It goes up to an altitude of 2042 meters which is fairly high, especially considering it's not in the Alps. It was constructed in 1974 and as you can see it could use some renovations here and there. The views get especially stunning above the tree line, although at the other end of the summit tunnel there was some dense fog. The Transfăgărășan pass became especially famous after it was featured in the top gear series and named as perhaps the best driving road ever featured in the program. What's also unique is that you can spot some interesting animals on the side of the road. Specifically European brown bears.
