We received an emergency call from a resident reporting a black dog lying motionless under a tree. When we arrived, my heart sank. The dog lay huddled together, exhausted after the pouring rain. Its body was wet and dirty, covered in bites, wounds and pus. Its front leg appeared to be severely injured, unable to move. Its eyes were half open, not afraid, not struggling - just hopeless. We approached it gently, trying to calm it down with our voices. It showed no resistance as if it had given up hope of living. We wrapped a towel around it, lifted it into the car and took it to the nearest rescue station. At the clinic, the doctor confirmed that it was severely exhausted, dehydrated, had an infection in its leg and needed urgent treatment. We temporarily named him Shadow, Because of his dark fur and his silent suffering like a shadow. The first days of treatment were a battle. Shadow did not eat, did not react much. But gradually as the wounds were cared for, as the darkness was gradually dispelled with patience and love. Shadow began to change. The second week, Shadow was able to lift his head. The third week, he was able to stand on his own, although still weak. His eyes began to shine. And in the fifth week, for the first time, I saw his tail wagging when I met him, A small sign but it almost made me cry with joy and happiness. What was even happier was that he was adopted after being discharged from the hospital. Now Shadow has a new home. A kind family adopted him and gave him a warm space, Good food and most importantly, love. Shadow was no longer the motionless dog in the rain. He runs around the yard, plays with the kids and sits in front of the door waiting for his owner to come home from work. Although his legs are still a bit weak, he was still trying to learn how to adapt and live happily.
