🚙DESTINATION: Cobar NSW 📍WHERE: The town is 712 km by road northwest of Sydney. It is at the crossroads of the Kidman Way and Barrier Highway within the Cobar Shire Council LGA. 👉🏽Country: Cobar is on the lands of the Ngiyampaa Wangaaypuwan people. ❓WHY: Lots of great reasons to visit Cobar including its interesting history and great museum, its outback location and scenery, and more recently its amazing Sound Chapel. 📅 WHEN: Cobar has a semi-arid climate with hot summers and cool to mild winters. Winter nights can be quite cold. We visited in winter, and enjoyed clear sunny days. Just beautiful. STAYED: Cobar Central Motor Inn - Quiet, clean and comfy. Friendly service. There are others of course. DINING: Ay-Jays Cafe served an excellent burger after a long day of walking and exploring. Gumnut Cafe was great for a coffee and a light breakfast. There are other options, just where we ended up on the day. 👂SOUND CHAPEL: The Cobar Sound Chapel is a permanent sound installation artwork located just out of town. It was completed in early 2022 as a result of a collaboration between composer and sound artist Georges Lentz and architect Glenn Murcutt.
