I’m here today to talk to you about GPS trackers. There is more than meets the eye when it comes to GPS trackers and knowing as much as you can allow you to make an informed decision. This video is intended to go over the basics of the different types of trackers out there to give you a first time look at these products. First and foremost there are two different types of trackers. You have Active GPS Trackers and Passive GPS Trackers. Shockingly enough they both give you the same information, what's the difference you ask? It's how the information is given to you, there are also some other key benefits that I will detail below. I will start with the more popular Active GPS Tracking. This type of tracker will actually transmit its location LIVE and allow you to log in to an online account to not only view the tracker where it currently but also look back on the history of where it's been. Since it is transmitting the information you can get a lot of crucial information very fast. An Active GPS tracker can even send you alerts based upon speed, such as if the vehicle goes above 80 miles per hour, this is great for child drivers or commercial vehicles. Since it's transmitting live it is also capable of alerting you if the vehicle enters or exits a specified area, this is called geofencing, it's useful to know when your kid gets to or leaves school or home. Or if an employee is going to a bar during the day instead of working. Those are just two examples of the features you can expect from an Active GPS tracker. One thing to keep in mind is that since the tracker is transmitting information you have to pay monthly in order to keep it going. The price per month will be determined by the quality of service, update time, and whether or not there is a contract involved. Here at SpyCentre, we offer the finest quality trackers with no data limit and no contract. All of our plans are month to month. Next up is Passive GPS Trackers. These do very similar things to an Active Tracker, they track location and overlay the information onto a Map. The major difference here is that Passive GPS trackers do NOT transmit any information live. Meaning, you are not able to view where the vehicle is currently remotely and you are also not able to get real-time alerts either. How it works is all of the location data is stored internally to the tracker itself. So to view where the vehicle has been you need to pull it off of the car and plug it into your computer. Passive trackers still give you an address as well as speed so it can be very useful depending on your situation. Since it does not transmit there is no monthly fee associated with this type of tracker. The easiest way to determine which tracker is the best for you is to determine whether or not you need to see where the vehicle is live.
