Horween Leather Seconds - Part 1

Second or second run is a term used in the leather industry for hides that have been rejected at the tannery. This can happen for a number of reasons. For example, a hide may have a brand, hole, scar, loose break, tannery cut, stain, grain defect, etc. By no means are these hides unusable, they may have a defect to cut around or to include into the cutting of your project. Most hides are very usable with minimal issues to work around. Seconds with numerous or more severe defects will be labeled as “Craft” grade hides. These will have more defects than the usual second and may be best for cutting smaller goods. Craft grade hides will be discounted accordingly.
