This was a difficult decision to make for many reasons and it took years to make. I didn't speak about it publicly, because I didn't want to be swayed one way or another by public discussion. I needed to make this choice all on my own, and in my own time. Ultimately, I felt like since Beau's mom had 3 fillies on the ground now, and his sire had several fillies on the ground as well, that Beau's lines would go on through any mare line through them, even if I gelded him, and he could have a better life as a gelding. Since I mainly kept him in tact, because his mom had no fillies on the ground at the time, he was her first foal, and I had no way if knowing that one day she would have more foals, as she does now. I didn't want to loose her lines in particular, due to their rarity and I also felt her lines were an amazing addition to any breeding program.
