Thousands of UC healthcare workers begin strike

Tens of thousands of University of California Health System workers are striking across the state, including workers at Sacramento’s UC Davis Medical Center. Hundreds of UC service workers joined the picket lines Wednesday in front of the facility on Stockton Blvd. to protest what they called unfair labor practices on the part of the university health system. Organizers from the AFSCME Local 3299 said that there is, in their words, "an epidemic of under-staffing at UC facilities" and that workers are struggling with cost of living and housing affordability issues.
