Woman carries son with cerebral palsy all the way to the top of Yushan|Taiwan News

Remember the mother who ran a marathon with her son with cerebral palsy earlier this month? They’ve even summitted Yushan together. A charity documentary on this arduous trip will soon be available to stream online. During the premiere event, the caring mother said bed-rotting was not an option for her son. She’s clearly gone above and beyond, taking Hsiao-bi all the way to the top. Chen Chia-ling’s son Hsiao-bi got cerebral palsy at six months old after an adverse reaction to a vaccine. For over 20 years since, Chen has accompanied him on almost 300 marathon races. They even summited Yushan earlier this year. Chen Chia-ling Hsiao-bi’s mother It never occurred to me to give up, because I see so many people keep going for him. I don’t even think about giving up. She said she didn’t think twice about accepting the role. Patty Lee TV presenter I think it’s really meaningful. Whatever it is that we do, it doesn’t only benefit us. It’s not for my own experience. So I immediately said yes. Chen Chia-ling Hsiao-bi’s mother It doesn’t matter how much time you spend outside. As long as you take your kid out, you’ll see a completely different expression on their face. Many people who are institutionalized long-term only get to look at the ceiling. And when they’re watching the ceiling you’ll see their eyes vacant and their mouths open. I don’t want my kid to become like that. With Chen by his side, Hsiao-bi got to travel around Taiwan, even summiting Yushan. The documentary on their quest will be available to stream online starting on Dec. 23.
