Watch my other videos from Colombia: • Colombia 🇨🇴 Bogotá is Colombia's beating heart, an engaging and vibrant capital cradled by chilly Andean peaks and steeped in sophisticated urban cool. The city's cultural epicenter is La Candelaria, the cobbled historic downtown to which most travelers gravitate. Here, a potpourri of carefully preserved colonial buildings is home to museums, restaurants, hotels and bars, peppered amid 300-400 year-old houses, churches and convents. Nearly all of Bogotá's traditional attractions are here, radiating from Plaza de Bolívar, and gorgeous Cerro de Monserrate is just east with the best views of this, one of South America's largest cities! Thanks to its fusion of the past and present, Bogotá is an ideal location with history, entertainment, delicious cuisine, culture, business, and is also the melting pot of Colombia. Here all the cultures from different regions of the country have a place, from the cuisine of the Coffee Triangle to the exhilaration and joy of the Caribbean, or the artisanal heritage of Boyacá and the Valle de Cauca Festival. Bogotá brings together the best of Colombia, and for that reason, it should be at the top of your list of places to visit. Most are found in La Candelaria. Wandering in and out of museums and churches is a lovely way to spend a day, but on Sunday's you may find them being crammed with locals. Mid-week is much quieter. Torre Colpatria is a 50-story skyscraper in the downtown area of Bogotá, Colombia, the third tallest building in the country and the fifth-tallest in South America. Constructed from 1973 to 1978 and opened in 1979, it has a total height of 196 metres, becoming the tallest skyscraper of Colombia and holding that title until 2016, when the south tower of the BD Bacatá was topped off. The main headquarters of the Colpatria Bank are located in the building, and also a great number of other banks and financial corporations have offices in it. The building lies in the heart of the city's downtown. In 2012 the Dutch lighting company Philips replaced the old lights with a 120-meters-high LED system to improve the lighting of the building and project high-definition images. Because of that, and also because it was the tallest skyscraper in Colombia for almost 40 years, the building is a landmark in the country and dominates Bogota's skyline along with other structures such as the BD Bacatá, the World Trade Center, FONADE and Colseguros buildings.
