This New DODGE RAM V8 is MORE Worth than EVER BEFORE! The 2026 Ram 1500. The V8 is back. And if you buy one of these things, you get this symbol of protest badge on the fenders, announcing to the world you've got a pushrod 5.7-liter Hemi under the hood.In this video, we'll walk you through what's changed on this truck over its long life cycle, talk real-world pricing, and explain how this thing drives. This is the Big Horn trim level, and we need to talk about it.As tested, this Big Horn sits in the mid-60 thousand dollar range. And just like every domestic competitor, full-size trucks have gotten expensive. But here's the reality. When you show up to the dealership, these things are heavily discounted and incentivized. In the real world, you can get this identical truck for the low 50s, at least here in Illinois. And honestly, they're very easy to get. Ram is currently struggling with moving trucks off dealer lots, so you can probably push for even better deals. With price out of the way, the 1500 is a very well-appointed truck. You get a fairly premium-feeling cabin for the price point, and the usability is excellent. This has one of the biggest interior spaces in its class. The rear seats are very comfortable with USB ports for back seat passengers. The storage is excellent - easily the most storage in its class in the center console. This thing literally has gallons of space in there. It's a good mix of physical and touch controls, just like every truck in this class. Now let's talk engineering. I spent some time with Dan Stagner, one of the lead engineers on the Ram, so I'll walk you through how they've updated this vehicle over its fairly long life cycle. The fifth-generation Ram was introduced in 2018 as a 2019 model year. This generation really tried to showcase their updated frame, which was stronger and lighter than the outgoing variant. Now, why did Ram get rid of the V8s? Emissions, and how the prior CEO saw the brand moving forward. They had two six-cylinder options: the base Pentastar V6 and two different power outputs of a twin-turbo inline-six known as the Hurricane - a low output and a high output. When you opt for the 5.7 Hemi, you get a performance exhaust as standard, which is actually great. It sounds good without being obnoxious. And you get one gas tank option, which is 33 gallons. You're gonna need it, because this thing gets about 14 miles per gallon, best case scenario, at least in our testing. The specs: This 5.7-liter Hemi has been around for a very long time. It's a pushrod V8 making 395 horsepower and just over 400 pound-feet of torque. It does not have direct injection - it's port injection only. Old school in that regard. It does have variable camshaft timing, and being a pushrod, that's one camshaft.
