At the tail end of an extensive world tour, Alison Moyet’s ‘Key’ tour finally arrived in Sydney. It celebrated 40 years as a solo artist and saw a reworking of career highlights to create a cohesive whole. I must admit, listening to the album, I wasn’t taken with some of those reworkings, but as a live performance, they did combine really well together. She performed 21 songs, not all of them from the ‘Key’ album. I captured both new and old songs, including three of the four Yazoo numbers: Such Small Ale (00:16) Nobody's Diary (04:46) This House (09:17) Only You (13:09) All Cried Out (17:22) Love Resurrection (20:53) Don't Go (24:57) After 40+ years, Alison’s powerful contralto voice still sounds great. It was obvious that this retrospective tour was very special for her and she is relaxed and happy with all she's achieved. It was a terrific show, with too very fine musicians sharing the stage with her, and an impressive light show.
