A 3-Mile Rifle: Build List

Lauren and Chase Stroud, members of the Applied Ballistics ELR shooting team, show off the Cadex Precision rifle Lauren used to become the first woman to hit a 3-mile shot. Here's what it's made of: A Cadex CDX 40 Shadow action in the company's Dual Strike chassis. Switch-barrel setup for .338 and .375 Enabler using Structured barrels from TacomHQ. Lauren usually runs .375 and shoots the Badlands Super Bulldozer 2 with a 390-grain projectile moving at about 3,000 fps. That unit in front of the optic is the brand-new TacomHQ Charlie TARAC Mark 8. The scope can remain on a 100-yard zero and the TARAC can click up 30 MILs at a time up to 210 MILs of elevation. That's in addition the 30 MILs in the turret and another 30 in the reticle itself. The bipod is attached to the rifle with the Accuracy Solutions BipodeXt stabilizer, and it does a lot. The unit absorbs more than 50% of felt recoil from heavy kicking extreme-long-range rounds and by moving the bipod closer to the muzzle than the rear of the barrel, muzzle flip is almost completely eliminated. That's a huge advantage for fast and accurate long-range follow-up shots.
