Cutaneous Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (C-ALCL) is a rare type of primary cutaneous T-cell lymphoma that is part of the CD30-positive lymphoproliferative disorders. Here's an overview: Characteristics Cell Type: Composed of large, atypical lymphocytes that express CD30. Presentation: Typically appears as solitary or localized nodules or plaques on the skin, often ulcerated. These lesions are usually asymptomatic but may recur. Systemic Involvement: Unlike systemic anaplastic large cell lymphoma, C-ALCL is confined to the skin in most cases. Diagnosis Histopathology: Skin biopsy reveals large, atypical lymphocytes with anaplastic features. Immunohistochemistry: CD30 positivity is a hallmark feature. Staging: Imaging and laboratory tests are performed to rule out systemic involvement. Treatment Localized Disease: Surgical excision or local radiation therapy. Widespread or Recurrent Disease: Systemic therapies like methotrexate or targeted therapies (e.g., brentuximab vedotin, a CD30-targeting antibody-drug conjugate). Prognosis: Generally favorable when limited to the skin, with a high response rate to treatment #Lymphoma
