Salayah Stange - 2020 Bermuda Festival Performance

I got the chance to perform at the 2020 Bermuda Festival this year as a result of winning the Heather Nova Singer/Songwriter Competition. Just remembered that the performance was filmed! At next year's festival I'll be given the chance to open for another act with my own set (hopefully, given the pandemic has gone by then). The song I performed is called 'Happy.' It was the first song I’d ever written, when I was 14. I wrote it while I was going through a sort of rough patch. It's a letter from me to my future self, expressing how I felt at the time and giving that future person a piece of advice - "don't forget me," "don't regret anything." The overall message of the song is basically: even though everything (including myself) was a mess right then, it's okay. It's okay not to be 100% all the time. Don't look back and criticize how you were during that rough patch, because in the end we're all human, we're all trying, "we all just want to be happy." The actual song begins around 3:11.
