Dan Morgan believes the Panthers offense needs a playmaker, “where we can just get the ball out to a guy and he can take a 5-yard catch and take it the distance, or make a few guys miss and come up with a big play,” the Panthers’ GM told WRAL. The Panthers believe they have their WR1 with McMillan and a promising WR2 in Jalen Coker, but both these guys don’t have game-changing speed. Yards after the catch was a problem for the Panthers’ pass catchers last season. The problem is easy to define, but what will the team do about. Alex Zeitlow of the Charlotte Observer and the Panthers’ beat seem to believe the team is high on Jonathan Brooks. The third-year running back has had injury troubles that have plagued him since college. He has had two major operations on the same knee, but Zeitlow writes that Brooks is a “promising mystery” both as a runner and a pass catcher. What does this mean for the Panthers this offseason? Will they be in the market for a big name pass catcher? Or is the answer already on the roster?
