A DAY TRIP TO VOLENDAM AND MARKEN, NETHERLANDS.

A good sunny weather means it's time to go out and we like to explore new places. So we decided to go to Volendam and Marken. VOLENDAM: We began our trip driving to Volendam. A Dutch town on the lake of markemeer. It is just 20km from Amsterdam. We started our journey from Ijsselstein though, which is around 67km. Volendam is a popular tourist attraction in the Netherlands, well known for its old fishing boats and the traditional clothing still worn by some residents they say. You can also visit a museum, which features paintings, sculptures and pottery from 1800 to the present, a gallery of traditional costumes and mosaics etc. But we just wanted to roam around randomly as we had less time and Marken was on the list too. MARKEN: Marken is a village in the municipality of Waterland in the province of North Holland, Netherlands. It is located on a peninsula in the Markermeer and was formerly an island in the Zuiderzee. The characteristic wooden houses of Marken are a tourist attraction. It is a beautiful picturesque place. Literally place your camera anywhere and click a picture and boom!
