I walked from Hung Shing Yeh Beach all the way to the weather station above Sok Kwu Wan — a full 45‑minute hike across Lamma Island — and it reminded me why I couldn’t live in Hong Kong without this place. SUPPORT OUR CHANNEL BY BUYING SOME MERCH 🤪👇 Visit www.thisisnttravel.com Lamma is the calmest, most surprising corner of Hong Kong: family‑friendly, affordable, quiet, and full of history. In this video I talk through what makes the island so special, from the Kamikaze Caves to the giant oarfish at the Sok Kwu Wan temple, and why it feels so different from the rest of the city. Along the way I get into some thoughts about living abroad. Friends and family back in Ireland and New Zealand often ask me about moving overseas, but most never take the leap. Walking here made me think about why some people talk about change while others actually do it. This is a long, unhurried video — partly because the hike itself takes time, and partly because Lamma deserves more than a quick montage. There’s enough conversation and detail here that I’ll be able to cut a few shorter videos from it too. If you want to see a quieter, more honest side of Hong Kong, this walk is it.
