This trip almost didn’t happen. I kept going back and forth about it for way too long because leaving just… felt heavy. It would’ve been easier to stay. But I got on the plane anyway and landed in Seoul to a casual -14°C like the universe wanted to test my commitment. I wore four layers the entire time and fully accepted my new identity as a human marshmallow. I had never seen snow before. And somehow my brain decided the most reasonable way to experience it for the first time was… skiing. Of course. There were multiple moments on that slope where I was sliding sideways and reconsidering every decision that led me there. We got lost more than once. Walked down streets we couldn’t pronounce. Wandered through palaces and hanok villages that felt like time had paused a few centuries ago. It was that strange mix of discomfort and awe. The kind you only feel when everything around you is unfamiliar and beautiful at the same time. Somewhere in the middle of all that, my partner randomly found this low-key Korean BBQ spot that reset my standards and probably ruined all future ones for me. Cold, chaotic, but also surprisingly fun. And I’m really glad I went.
