Season Two, Episode 00084 Botanical Latin Name: Solanum x burbankii While it is sometimes called Garden huckleberry, that common name is the name of several other unrelated berries or fruits and so we will stick to Wonderberry as its common name. Wonderberry is a hybrid that was created by Luther Burbank in the 1900’s, and it’s nightshade origins are very apparent as the plants look like any number of wild nightshades that are poisonous. However when the seed is acquired through a reputable seller the plant you get is a fantastic-looking member of the nightshade family that bears purple-black berries that are only edible when ripe. This is a survival food and something that you can plant safely as no one will know it’s edible. LITFM Garden shorts are intended as a series of short videos highlighting a specific plant/family in the Botanical Testing Gardens. The Gardens are located in North Carolina (Zone 8a). Hopefully this video gives you some good garden ideas and if you have questions or comments let me know. The Blog is here: http://bl2-litfm.blogspot.com/
